Blues in the Schools

Blues in the Schools

is a nationally recognized educational initiative

that uses music as a teaching tool.

Each school year, two teams of Idaho Blues Society musicians visit more than a dozen schools in Idaho to share stories abou the history and culture of blues music, perform live music and invite students to sing along, and conduct workshops to teach youth in grades K-12 about blues music. The program is flexible and can be tailored to the age, interests, and learning objectives of elementary, middle, and high school classes. This is often the first time students have experienced live music. Kids love it!

Sponsor Testimonial:

Why I Chose to Sponsor

Sugaray's Show

"I love nothing more than great live music. And having the opportunity to experience talented blues musicians at the Sapphire Room is a real treat. I appreciate the fact that the Idaho Blues Society works hard to bring in talent from around the northwest as well as from other great blues cities. When I learned that I could help bring an artist as talented as Sugaray Rayford to Boise, the decision to help was an easy one."
